From the BBC to the Guardian, the entire British liberal media concurred, and had done ever since Prime Minister David Cameron had served notice of the Referendum vote back in February this year.
The result of the European Referendum was not and had never been in doubt, at least not to the Remain side and their establishment supporters.
A long list of politicians, celebrities and so-called ‘experts’ duly came forward to warn of the dire consequences that would surely follow in the aftermath of Brexit: War, Pestilence and Famine to name but three.
How could any right-minded person wish to leave the benevolence of the European super-state? It was in the bag. And with the political and media elite controlling the airwaves and more importantly the “narrative”, what could possibly go wrong?
Yet for all the heavyweight artillery, a growing number of people it seemed were contemplating the unthinkable: voting to leave the EU.
Daily, the British mainstream media painted such people as an irrelevance. Libertarians such as the BBC, Channel 4 and Sky News channels summarily dismissed ‘Leavers’ as a rather quaint species, a backward-looking minority yearning for a Britain that had long since vanished.
Interestingly, the more the media painted a picture of a post-apocalyptic UK, one populated by what they arrogantly dismissed as xenophobic ‘Little Englanders,’ the support for the Leave EU campaign, far from decreasing, actually increased. It seemed that people did not take very kindly to being lectured and sneered at by the media and political elite.
Not that such concerns unduly worried the establishment. If anything the ad-hominem attacks became ever more virulent – a sure sign that the Cameron-lead Remain side were starting to get worried.
But why should this be so? According to the mainstream polls, the result was a foregone conclusion. Two weeks until the big day and the Liberal media had Remain with a healthy 10 point lead.
While the BBC and Guardian insisted that Remain were on course for a crushing victory, other much less publicised polls were however telling an entirely different story.
Pollstation.uk was just one of many independent websites showing the exact opposite. An online survey of over 150,000 people gave Leave an overwhelming victory with 81% of people polled declaring an intent to vote to leave the EU. Other ad-hoc polls consistently showed a 70-30 split in favour of Leave.
The parallels between Brexit and the US presidential election are obvious enough: while CNN and the US Liberal media declare the presidential race all but over, the signs on the street (outside Washington) as well as social media signals overwhelmingly point to a Trump victory, a landslide even.
Trump can certainly take heart from the stunning Brexit victory. On both sides of the Atlantic it appears the pollsters operate in a very similar manner: highly selectively.
If the lessons from Brexit are anything to go by, Trump should indeed take a comfortable win come November - should – much will depends on the integrity of the vote.
You only had to watch the BBC to see the utter disbelief written all over the faces of the establishment come the morning of June 24th. Reality was a very bitter pill to swallow. Britain had voted to leave the EU.
But far from gracefully accepting the democratic decision of the British people, the establishment are now busily engaged in attempting to undermine the outcome. Brexiteers are at best uneducated, low intelligence plebs, at worst white supremacist, racists filled with regret.
The Liberal mainstream media do not take very kindly to losing. It hurts.
If this divisive post-Brexit fallout is anything to go by, if and when Trump does win the White House on November 8th, he will have won the battle, but the war will only just have begun.
